I’m choosing this because:

This is a book that I was asked to review by the author, Lindsay Leggett. I have a secret though, I put it on my TBR before she asked. The synopsis looked so good. So when she offered me a review copy how could I say no? So the time has come for me to read it and am I excited? Well let me answer that with another question: Does a car have wheels? I

Judging a book by its cover:

Well this is the first thing I saw about ‘Flight’ and I have to say I did fall a little bit in love. The hair of the girl on the cover is so vivid and noticeable and it really caught my eye. The rest of the cover is bleak and dark but still achingly beautiful. I’d love to know why she’s holding what appears to be holding a bird cage. It’s one of those mysteries that can only be solved by delving in to the story and getting to know the characters.

Pricing the (possible) awesomeness:

Well, I got this for FREE because I’m awesome, well actually because I promised an honest review, but let’s not argue the small things! You can buy this for £2.06 on Kindle (bit of a random price if I’m honest!). There’s also a paperback for £10.11 (again: random price.). I’d go for Kindle, if you’re not sure if you want to buy it you can borrow it for FREE on Prime!

Okay, where to start. This book for me is the ultimate slow burner. It took me a week to actually get off chapter one. I’d pick it up, I’d put it down. I wasn’t feeling it and I REALLY wanted to! So I decided to take it on a chapter by chapter basis, a little here, a little there. Load it up and read it on the PC when I wasn’t busy with blog stuff and then it happened. I got it, it all made sense. At about 40% I hit my stride. I was hooked. Sat here on my computer chair just falling in love with Piper and Asher and I was all for joining the revolt (DOWN WITH THE CORP!!) . Now I’d like to point out the writing was stunning throughout, I think it’s one of those awkward, ‘it’s not you, it’s me’ moments that I couldn’t get into this at first. Now we’ve addressed that, let’s move on. As I said the writing is beautiful. Lindsay Leggett paints a wonderful tale of falling in love. Now normally when it comes to the romance aspect of books I prefer that it takes a back seat but with this I was backing the leads and hoping they could have the fairy tale.   Once I’d got over my whole “I can’t read you!!” crisis, the pages seemed to melt into each other and I have to say the actual plot of the book felt so unique and I definitely want more of it.

Piper – Piper is our lead character. She’s actually kick-arse! I absolutely love how she has the guts to stand up and be counted but still have the vulnerability that comes with losing her brother David (my brother’s called David... does she want him?).  She has a strength that is rarely seen in Dystopian/PNR type books and I salute her!

Asher – He made the book for me. I guessed early on what he was hiding but no matter! He excited me. He brought the book to life and it was as he became more integral to the plot that I came out of my slump. I love how he was mysterious but not a complete doofus. I mean some characters try to be one thing but it just doesn’t translate to that on the page. No such issue here.

Grier – Another woman who isn’t afraid to tear someone apart given the opportunity. She’s feisty and I appreciate the loyalty that she came to show. She reminds me of my best friend (Highest compliment in the world! My bestie is just incredible!!) and that has never happened in a book before. So well done on that!! It made me happy.

Overall, once I’d got going this is a sublime story. It’s original, well thought out, the premise is something I want more of. Piper and Asher had some serious chemistry going on *fans self*! I’m sad they can’t have couple name though!! *sulks* Okay, going wildly off topic because I’m sleepy. This is one of those books where you think “why isn’t this a book everyone’s talking about?” I’ve read a few of those recently actually. Also I have no words for that ending. I mean... wow, I was blown away. Heck I think it’s one of the best endings I’ve read this year!! I did not see that! And I’m getting excited just thinking of it. I think this is a good place to end this before I turn into a fangirling wreck...

I did mark it down because of my issues, I had to, otherwise this review would be ridiculously hypocritical. The last 60% more than made up for it and I have to say I need more of everything about this. The ending shocked me and has left me in desperate need of more. I believe this book is New Adult... this is my first taste of this age category and I have to say I liked it. It had the action of YA without the length of adult. I approve. I so recommend this. Much better than most of the mainstream books of this genre. 

I want to end this review by thanking Lindsay for providing me with a review copy. It was most kind of you, I think ‘Flight’ could mark the start of something special. I can only hope that this review was worth the free copy! (what it’s late as I type this!! I could be putting anything!)
